When a Workout Looks Good (W2 2018)

This last week did not look like I wanted it to and part of the journey is being okay with that. I was tired and I tweaked my back on Wednesday doing dead lifts.  I had to dial it back some and rest.  It's a long road and there is no use burning myself out at this stage.

However, Saturday, I finally had a workout go my way.  I'm trying to ramp up my long runs to begin training for the Ogden Marathon in May.  A friend and I drove to the top of American Fork Canyon and ran down.  It has been such a mild winter, the road was perfect.  And it was 28 degrees at the top.  Pretty warm for the canyon in January!

I wasn't necessarily excited about the run at the onset.  My back was still sore from Wednesday and I didn't sleep well the night before.  But, once we got into the groove, it was a beautiful run.  We just ran by how we were feeling and at the end, we had clocked nearly 9 miles at a below 10 minute/mile average.

Certainly nothing to write home about, but faster than I have run in almost two years for that distance.  Two years ago, I broke my foot and it has been a long road back.  I finally saw a glimpse of that Saturday and I'm excited to keep building on it.  It's these little blocks that keep me going and give me the confidence that I can do this!

Baby Steps to the Finish Line!
